Vineyards
Our 2025 Golden Plains Chardonnay is a blend from across the three south-west Victorian regions of Henty, Ballarat, and Geelong.
The Doeven vineyard at Drumborg in the ultra-cool Henty wine region, which is a site strongly influenced by the proximity of the Great Southern Ocean.
The Sinclair vineyard at Scotsburn, on a 500 m elevation ridge just south of Ballarat, 1km south-east of Mt Buninyong, is typical of goldfield soils of gravel and quartz, which were seabed deposits during the Ordovician period 450+ million years ago.
The final component is from the Ceres Bridge vineyard, with its cracking clay, loam, and basalt rock topsoil over a limestone base, near the Barwon River in the Moorabool Valley sub-region of Geelong.
Tasting note
A bright yellow gold in the glass, aromatically, ripe lemon notes lead to a juicy yellow-and-red apple spectrum, supported by classy French oak spices and a complex fresh chamomile character. The palate is generous and full-flavoured, continuing the ripe-apple theme, with a fresh, crunchy finish and a fine saline detail that brings balance and persistence. A great drink that is ready to enjoy from release through the next three years.
Pairing with panko crumbed schnitzel and fresh slaw.
