Vineyard
This single vineyard wine is grown in the ultra-cool Drumborg sub-region of Henty, in south-west Victoria. It is planted in degraded volcanic buckshot topsoil over a permeable cracking red clay base. The vines are VSP trained and grow with moderate vigour. Far enough inland to experience continental-like cool nights, the site is also significantly influenced by the growing season weather patterns and the Great Southern Ocean.

"From the Doeven vineyard, some 60km from the Southern Ocean. A deep-ish, bright crimson red. A pure-fruited and attractive bouquet of wild strawberry, early picked raspberry, pressed flowers and spice. Medium bodied, this has good depth of fruit on the very persistent and finely tuned palate. The tannins are there if you look for them and they bode well for anyone who still has a bottle or two six to eight years from now." 96 Points Philip Rich Halliday Wine Companion Published 23 June 2025
"This is from a vineyard in the cool Drumborg sub-region. It’s quite a wine. It has depth, it has tannin, it has brightness about its edges and it finishes with intent. Purple flowers, red and black cherry, cedarwood, sweet herbs and both nuts and undergrowth. Oak sinks straight into the fruit. Tannin takes the flavours and strikes out for the horizon. There’s quite a bit of wow to be had here." 95 points. Campbell Mattinson, campbellmattinson.com
