Vineyard
This single vineyard wine is grown in the ultra-cool Drumborg sub-region of Henty, in far south-west Victoria. It is planted in degraded volcanic buckshot topsoil over a permeable, cracking red clay base. The vines are VSP trained and grow with moderate vigour. Far enough inland to experience continental-like cool nights, the site is also significantly influenced by its proximity to the Great Southern Ocean.
Notes
The 2023 season was perfect for sparkling wine production, and this is beautifully precise with zesty lemon fruit, some complex herbal notes and crisp apple complexity. Its subtle power and intensity are showcased with lovely pure Chardonnay fruit expression. The finish is refreshingly dry and savoury due to its brut dosage of 4 g/L and excellent natural acidity. Made using the same technique as Champagne, or what is referred to as the Traditional Method, this is a fine wine suitable for the very best of occasions.
