Magnums are bottled under cork with a black wax seal.
Tasting Note
A lovely ruby hue, this fine wine displays fruit aromas and flavours of black cherry and cardamom with a woodsmoke input. A wine of inherent power and drive, the earthy, foresty flavours are matched to a lovely, satin-like mouthfeel. Owing its refined weight and power to its Moorabool Valley home, this steep southeast-facing vineyard displays an excellent match of grape variety to site.
Vineyard
Our local vineyard, and one we’ve worked with for nearly twenty years, Darriwill captures the spirit of Geelong’s Moorabool Valley in a bottle. It’s a beautiful site with a cool south-easterly aspect, a mix of clay and loam over limestone soils that contribute both breadth and tension to the wine.
Independent Review
"25% whole bunches, the balance destemmed. Open ferment with indigenous yeast, 10 months' maturation in French barriques (20% new). Brings together in the glass the strengths of Geelong pinot noir, including a dried sage, saline, maritime-climate quality that so impresses. Black cherry, aniseed, fennel seed and leafy aromas. Fine tannin edge through to the finish. Elegance in the glass." 95 points
