2023 Provenance Doeven Vineyard Pinot Noir

In the deep south-west of Victoria, where the winds from the Southern Ocean meet schist-laden soils, lies the Doeven Vineyard.

Across the road from the iconic Seppelt’s Drumborg vineyard, it’s a fantastic, rugged site, planted in the 1980s, and we love its distinctive, impeccable, low-yielding fruit.

Here, Pinot Noir gains incredible aromatic detail and character, bright natural acidity, and a line of minerality that we expect each year from Henty. The 2023 vintage amplified these traits, delivering a wine of elegance, energy, and longevity.

"This wine brings the power, the silk, the complexity and the elegance. It’s the best of many worlds. It’s alive with fragrant herb characters though, in truth, they are tucked into the bright blue-and-red berry flavours, and the twiggy spice notes, and the wine’s general, smoky, fruit-sweetness. Make no mistake, this wine is both savoury and autumnal, but the berried-flavours feel beautifully ripened, and the fruit itself feels velvety. This is an elite pinot noir." 96 points.
