2024-henty-pinot-noir
2024 Henty Pinot Noir

This single-vineyard wine is grown in the ultra-cool Drumborg sub-region of the Henty GI in south-west Victoria, approx. 30km north of Portland and 350km west of Melbourne. It is planted in degraded volcanic buckshot topsoil over a permeable, cracking red clay base, and adjacent to a natural peat wetland that helps regulate the microclimate's moisture levels. The vines are VSP-trained and grow with moderate vigour, managed using a biological farming approach, with no systemic herbicides or pesticides. Comprised of sub-plots of Pinot Noir clones, including MV6, 777, Pommard, and the Swiss Mariafeld clone. Far enough inland to experience continental-like cool nights, the site is also significantly influenced by the growing season weather patterns and the Great Southern Ocean.

Independent Review
"This is an excellent Henty pinot noir. It’s complex, well fruited, energetic and aromatic, and while it’s firm with tannin it still manages to run long through the finish. Boysenberry, red cherry, floral and spice characters come infused with mint, garden herbs, potpourri and flashes of raspberry. It tastes as though it was grown in an abundant garden, which is a great way for a pinot noir to taste."
94 points
Campbell Mattinson, campbellmattinson.com (April 2026)

Prov.
