Provenance means the place of origin. Everything we do from vineyard to glass is about preserving the identity of place. Our new home under construction at the Fyansford mill is also a very special place.
When it was built on the banks of the Barwon River during the 1870’s, the Barwon Paper Mill was considered a great feat of engineering. In its heyday, it was the largest and most complete paper mill in the southern hemisphere. The passage of time saw papermaking techniques change but the quality and strength of construction, has ensured this Victorian era industrial complex remains. The heritage bluestone buildings that house our winemaking operations will soon see a new cellar door opening in our maturation cellar. Originally the home of the 100 foot long (30.5m) paper making machine our cellar will be a place to experience and understand, through all the senses, the winemaking craft in a most beautiful setting. We can’t wait to share our wines and historical home with you.
